Pietra DuraPietra Dura is marble inlaid with precious or semi-precious stones and is very therefore very bespoke but expensive. Pietra Dura is an Italian plural meaning hard rocks, or perhaps better durable stone and this is the preferred term; the singular Pietra Dura is also encountered. The English term "Florentine mosaic" is sometimes also encountered, as is "micromosaic", but these are disparaged, often as terms developed by the tourist industry. Beautiful inlaid marbleMTA Stone has many years experience in working Pietra Dura, handcrafting beautiful inlaid marble tables and other furniture for a number of private clients. |
